Definition - Self-Esteem: confidence in one's own worth or abilities
You determine what your level of confidence in yourself should be. No one gets to decide that for you! I have a close friend who wakes up every morning and the first thing she does is look in the morning to tell herself how amazing she is! Because of my own insecurities, I used to think that was weird but woah, she was just ahead of the game. She was and still is so confident of herself that every morning that is the first thing she focuses on.
You have to find your own way of figuring out what being confident in your own abilities means to you but I'm here to give you some quick tips on some ways to start figuring it out. At the end of the day, your life is determined by you. In whatever situation you are in, you decide how you talk to yourself and how you value your worth. That is why it is called Self-Esteem. It is how you view yourself! You define who you are!
Self-Esteem Improvement Tips:
1. Strengthen your communication skills.
I start here because how you talk to yourself matters! ALOT! You don't know everything in this world but you are the one that knows yourself best. Spend more time reminding yourself of how awesome you are. Teach yourself to be kinder to yourself. Got a D on that test, then tell yourself you can learn from that experience and work on improving next time. Getting that D, doesn't mean you are a bad person but how you talk to yourself after getting that grade does help you decide how you feel about that grade.
2. Be yourself.
Just like your mom said. Pretending to be someone you’re not is dishonest. It’s also hard on your self-esteem. Embrace the parts of you that are unique and share them with others. Some people will like you while others do not. That’s true regardless of your personality.
